Tell your dealer to find the tractor you want to buy, or find another dealer. The NH dealer I work for has DOZENS of Boomers out with Supersteer. As of yet we have had NO problems related to the SuperSteer feature, period. Your dealer is obviously unwilling to stock & promote units with this cutting edge feature, and sooner or later he will lose sales because of this attitude (maybe yours?). You will really like theSupersteer axle for your mowing duties. ....

If you are going to use a tractor for mowing there is nothing better than a supersteer. I have a TC40D w/supersteer and love it! Supersteer is not "trouble" and have not had a single problem with it despite very heavy use with a front loader.

Like the other poster said, if the dealer is downplaying supersteer he is probably just trying to move his "outdated" inventory or has their head in the sand and you should find another dealer.

I talked to the dealer yesterday and he said that it was just one more thing to go wrong.I asked if they had seriuos design flaws he said that they hadn't delt with them to much as of yet but he hadn't heard anything negative so far so i think your right about him wanting to reduce aged inventory the ones he has on the lot have some rust in the motor compartment and on the loader controls so i think if i do get one i will order in the hopes that its not allready rusting that bad ....

Eric,
My dealer said, "you'll find this unit more than nimble." He was right! I mow 5 acres with lots of trees with a TC29D w/o S/S. I have noticed that around certain trees that I have choosen to cut tight around, the turf is spare and can be noticed up at the tree, but not from a distance. I'm pleased with the performance w/o SS. I discussed the SS option prior to my purchase with my dealer. He said the same thing as yours. I beleive that he too was just adding to my fears of maintenance, but I do like the TC29D w/o SS! Pay your money and make your choice! ....

I have a tc29d w/ss and it is the best feature of the machine. I will caution you however, the rust may be on the new one you order in if you live in the salt belt, mine was built in Jan. and delivered in March with rust. You may want to check on a different brand mower as well, if you are buying one. The N/H deck is very heavy with only minimal support with four very narrow gauge wheels that allow it to sink into the soil if it is the least bit damp. After I bought mine I had an opportunity to use a Bush Hog model finish mower and it had large flotation wheels that did a great job. Same goes for the Woods models I have looked at. Also, the components of the SS require the tractor to be lifted up to gain clearance for removal of the belly deck. Do your self a favor, go to the N/H distribution center with your salesman and pick out a tractor to be delivered to the dealer, ensuring a clean machine. Good luck. ....
